Home Based Business Opportunities – How To Identify A Great Home Based Business
James Stacy asked:
Did you know that recent polls suggest that 96% of Americans wish to own a home based business. A home based business gives an individual the ability to be their own boss and earn an income from home based on their own efforts. Still many people struggle to find the right home based business opportunity.
With all of the home based business opportunities available today it can be a bit overwhelming to locate a solid business you can build your future with. Today the internet is full of scams, hype and empty promises. My hope is that through these four home based business principles you will be better able to recognize a solid business model and from there select one that is appropriate for you.
(1) Huge expanding market:
Why is this important? Let’s say your company produces the world’s best VHS and Cassette Tapes. Would that matter today? No. Why not? Because that is not an expanding market, it’s a contracting market. They have been replaced by CD’s, DVD’s, MP3 Players etc. So the first principle is to focus on markets that are huge and expanding.
(2) Offer Unique and Consumable Products:
If you do not have a unique product, then you compete on price and convenience. You will also have to develop a retention strategy to retain your customers without a unique product. If you have a unique product your customers must come to you in order to purchase that product.Success in a home based business requires repeat sales of consumable products.
(3) Timing:
This is essentially market trends. In every cycle of the economy their are businesses that are making money and businesses that are losing money. The money makers are in front of the large trends and the money losers disregard trends. So how do you get in front of the large trends? You study what creates them and then chose a product that will benefit from the current trends.
(4) Leverage:
Employee others so you get more done. The traditional way of doing this is through employees. The problem with this design is that while the employer has leverage, the employees do not. The employee does not have the same opportunity as the employer.
You must create a situation where everyone has the same amount to gain. After over a decade of research into the home based business arena I have found that the only business model that offers this is Network Marketing. While their are many misconceptions as to how this industry works, nobody can argue the fact that as an industry it does work. So the real question is what would it take for it to work for you. Well, locating a company with the previous qualities would be a great start.
