Home Business Ideas – Work at Home Job Or Business?

John Benjamin asked:

I hear a lot of individuals crying out that they want to work at home so that they can have the “liberty” to work when they desire. But have you really considered this? There is a lot of difference between working at home at a job and operating a business. If you’re not certain what the disparity is, this article will assist you find some point of view.

If this is your initial attempt at working from your home, you may have already worked in the usual company and going to the office from 9 to 5 and then coming home. For most folks, that is the description of a work. Sorry to say, even for working from home, that description is too constraining. You can in reality work a job even though you’ve never left your house. And I’m not discussing about telecommuting either, where you’re working for someone, just out of your own abode. I’m talking about something completely different.

To be particular I’m talking about freelancing. This is where you do something like ghost writing, programming or copywriting, where you are getting employed by people to offer them with ebooks, sales pages, articles e.t.c. Whether you like it or not, this is an occupation. No, you’re not reporting to anyone and you can essentially work when you desire, but it’s still a job for one very vital reason. If you don’t do the job, you don’t get paid at the end.

Alright, so what’s the disparity between that and having a work at home job? Well, with a work at home business, you’re marketing a product or service that doesn’t need you to repeatedly do a particular job in order to get paid. For instance, if you have a home business where you are promoting ebooks, you basically write the book and then place ads on the internet to market it. You don’t have to continue writing each day in order to generate sales. In fact, if you can get affiliates to market your book for you and paying them a commission to do so, you can successfully operate your business almost completely hands off.

Point is you don’t have to look for customer’s day in and day out in order to earn income. With a business, the income can consistently come in even if you’re out on the beech. That is the disparity between a work at home job and business. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying there is anything wrong with freelancing. Just know what it is and what the requirements are before you jump into it.
