Home Business Tips – The Worst Disease of Home Business Owners

Steven Wagenheim asked:

Somebody at the Warrior Forum brought up a very good point about home business owners and when I read it, I realized that what he was talking about is a horrible disease. It’s called laziness and entitlement. And while I know this article isn’t going to go down well with a lot of people, it’s something that THOSE people need to hear or they’re going to end up miserable failures. Is that blunt enough for you? Good…then keep reading…because it gets better.

The problems addresses in the forum post were the following. Home business owners didn’t want to do the required work because they either, thought it was too much, didn’t think it would produce results, wanted to be guaranteed that they’d make money today and not some time in the future and wanted to be guaranteed that their sales page would convert before they busted their hump driving traffic to it. I want to thank Brad Gosse for bringing these points up. I could add a lot more, but my digestive system wouldn’t be able to take it. But “I need to do it at no cost” is probably at the top of the list.

These people are lazy and suffer from entitlement syndrome. That’s where they expect to just get up in the morning, turn on their computers and have hundred dollar bills come spitting out of their CD drives. If it were that easy, everybody and their grandmother would be doing it. But it’s not easy. It’s hard work. As Brad mentions, all the big names had to work hard to get to where they are. What makes YOU think that you’re any different?

Okay, now that I’ve ticked off about 90% of the people reading this article, for those of you who are left (and not ready to throw stones at my head) listen up. I put in 14 hour days for years before I finally reached the point where I can now spend most of my day in the recording studio cranking out punk rock tunes or goofing off on my spare PC searching for hidden gold somewhere in never-never land. I earned the right to bum away the bulk of my day. It didn’t come easy. It took hard work…lots of it.

So, here are your choices. They are really simple ones. You can spend all day making excuses for why you don’t want to do what needs to be done to improve your business (and ultimately end up broke) or…you can sit down, make a business plan, make a budget, hire people to do the work for you that you can’t do yourself (like writing salescopy), investing in your business and MAYBE…just MAYBE…you might reach a point where you can waste most of YOUR day playing stupid video games too.

You can beat this terrible disease…or succumb to it.

The choice is YOURS.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim
