Companies are buying ads on-line all the time. On the search results page, on the edges of websites and even as text embedded in a paragraph. There are banner ads, text ads and those pesky pop-up ads. All of those are paid for by advertisers hoping to get in front of you with their business or product. Well, have you ever wondered who are they paying?
Google Adsense is a program Google created to expand their advertising base. As you know, Google was once just Google.com. You searched and you got a search results page with ads on it. Well, they decided to set up a program so they could advertise everywhere. Any page on the web has the ability to host Google’s ads.
You register with Google and they give you some computer code. You copy that code and put it on your website. Google then scans the website, sees the code and knows instantly to put advertisements right in that spot. That code also tells them it’s your website and you should get paid if anyone “clicks” on an ad.
Here’s the Part Where You Learn There’s No Sales Involved
Yeah, that’s right. You get paid if they click on the ad. Do you know why that is? It’s because the advertiser has agreed to pay Google each time someone clicks on their ad. That’s called PPC Advertising or Pay-Per-Click. The company then must decide how much is it worth to get a person to their site. You have nothing to do with that, your job is to copy and paste Google code onto your website. That’s it.
Oh! You Don’t Have A Website?
Guess what, it’s easy to get a website. It’s easy to make a website and the best part is your website should be about something you love. Why write about something you don’t? There are several easy programs you can use that don’t require “how to build a website” knowledge. All you have to be able to do is type, copy and paste.
